Last year’s harvest in this Coffee Estate was approximately 200,000 pounds / 2,000 qqs of green coffee / raw coffee in 261 Acres. Renovation and pruning have been conducted in the coffee farm for the last 6 years as you may know every coffee plantation requires renovation and pruning every certain period and it's best to do some lots at a time to not disrupt the total farm's yields. Owners expect production to grow to 250,000 pounds / 2,500 qqs of green/raw coffee for the 2024/2025 harvest. This farm increased its coffee plantations by 30.45 Ac/ 17.65 Mzns / 12.44 Ha for a total area of coffee plantations of 239.51 Ac / 137.65 Mzns / 97.05 Ha.

COFFEE VARIETY: The best quality coffee varieties are planted on the farm – Marsellesa, Catimore, Parainema, Anacafé, and Caturra. These coffee varieties exhibit an outstanding cup of quality. The coffee plantation density is 1,900 coffee plants / Acre or 3,300 plants / Mzn.

PROCESS
Our high ground coffees are processed using the Wet Method which is considered the process of higher quality and is traded at a higher price level.
Next, the coffee cherry's mucilage is removed through fermentation. Finally, the beans are dried, either in the sunlight or using forced-air drying.
In our case, the coffee beans are sun-dried in a Coffee Mill of our choosing. There are many Coffee Mills in Matagalpa which provide that service.
Labor in Rural Nicaragua is the cheapest in Central America starting @ $0.92 / hr.

MATAGALPA
Matagalpa is one of the most mountainous departments in Nicaragua and represents the beginning of the Northern region of the country. Its territory, which is crossed by two mountain ranges called Dariense e Isabellia, features several rivers flows, interesting towns, rural communities, rural tourism facilities, and many natural attractions such as mountains, natural reserves, lakes, and waterfalls. The production of high-quality coffee is common in this region, known for its cold weather.
Surrounded by mountains, the bustling town of Matagalpa is the administrative center of the region. In the pleasant village are comfortable hotels, good restaurants, museums, cultural centers, and bars. Nearby is the waterfall of the Rio Santa Emilia and Apante Hill nature reserve, where you can hike.
